History and what to see
From Pola de Allande you climb to the Puerto del Palo, where the Hospitales variant rejoins; it crosses the higher, more exposed ridge past the remains of the old pilgrim hospitals of Fanfaraón and Valparaíso. Hospitales is only worth it in good weather. After the pass everyone continues together via Montefurado and Lago to Berducedo.
