Camino Inglés in 5 days from Ferrol: stages and tips
The short route that qualifies for the Compostela, with stages, where to stay and the long Bruma stage.
The Camino Inglés is the answer to “I have one week”. From Ferrol it is 113 km, five or six walking days and very few people outside July and August.
Recommended 5-day stages
- Ferrol – Pontedeume, 27 km. The Ferrol estuary, Neda and the climb into Pontedeume. For a gentle start, stop in Neda (15 km).
- Pontedeume – Betanzos, 21 km. Starts with the steepest climb of the route, then Miño and the medieval town of Betanzos.
- Betanzos – Hospital de Bruma, 29 km. The long stage with the most climbing. Bars in Presedo and Vizoño; the Bruma albergue is small, backup in Mesón do Vento.
- Hospital de Bruma – Sigüeiro, 24 km. Gentle descent through hamlets.
- Sigüeiro – Santiago, 16 km. You arrive mid morning.

Xunta public albergues in Neda, Pontedeume, Miño, Betanzos, Bruma and Sigüeiro (€10, no booking). Private hostels and guesthouses in every larger town.
Tips
- It is the rainiest Camino: rain jacket and pack cover are essential.
- The variant from A Coruña (75 km) does not reach 100 km; it only counts for the Compostela if you walk 25 km with stamps in your home city.
- Carry cash: there are few ATMs between Betanzos and Sigüeiro.
