Is it safe to walk the Camino alone?
Yes, and many people do. On the Francés and Portugués you are rarely far from other pilgrims, and it is one of the safest long-distance walks in Europe. Share each day’s stage with someone at home and keep your phone charged.
Should I stay in albergues or hotels on the Camino?
For proper rest, a private room in a guesthouse, hotel or apartment, booked ahead. Albergues are cheaper, but many take no bookings, have early curfews and fill up in high season. In 2027, have every night confirmed before you set off.
