History and what to see
Today you cross the highest point of the whole Camino del Norte and pass from Lugo into A Coruña. At the end appears the monastery of Santa María de Sobrado, Cistercian since 1142, when monks arrived from Clairvaux. It was closed in 1835 and monastic life returned in 1966; beside it lies the lake the monks created in the early 16th century.

Sobrado keeps monastic hospitality alive: its entrance cloister, the Pilgrims’ Cloister, is where walkers are taken in. Few stages end inside a working Cistercian monastery.
