Leaving Estella, the wine fountain of Bodegas Irache, next to the Benedictine monastery, offers pilgrims a free sip. The route climbs via Azqueta and Villamayor de Monjardín, with the castle of San Esteban above and the medieval Fuente de los Moros, then crosses a long shadeless stretch to Los Arcos and its church of Santa María with its Baroque organ.
