History and what to see
The most walked stage in the world. From Sarria, via the Rúa Maior and the Magdalena steps, you cross the Ponte Áspera and climb among oaks to Barbadelo with its Romanesque church. Morgade, Ferreiros (the 100 km marker) and Mercadoiro lead to Portomarín, a town moved stone by stone in the 1960s when the Belesar reservoir flooded the original; the fortress-church of San Nicolás presides over it.
