Frequently asked questions

What is a pensión?

A small guesthouse with private rooms, usually with fewer services than a hotel. A hostal is a similar category.

Where are most guesthouses on the Camino?

At the larger stage ends: Sarria, O Pedrouzo, Palas de Rei, Arzúa and the towns of the Norte and the Portugués.

Do I need to book a guesthouse ahead?

From May to October, yes, especially on the last 100 km of the Francés. In the Holy Year, even more so.

Do guesthouses have private bathrooms?

Many do, not all. Check the listing or ask when you request the booking.

Can I send my bag to the guesthouse?

Yes. Luggage transfer leaves your bag at the reception of each night’s place.

Free, no commitment. We reply within 24 h with a fixed price for your dates.
