History and what to see

Now in Galicia, the path leaves the A Mariña coast and heads inland through hamlets, oaks and chestnuts. It ends in Vilanova de Lourenzá, which grew around the monastery of San Salvador, founded in the 10th century by Count Osorio Gutiérrez. Its baroque façade is by Fernando de Casas Novoa, who designed the Obradoiro façade in Santiago.

  • The Lourenzá bean

    Lourenzá gives its name to a white bean with Protected Geographical Indication, and its bean market is recorded from the 18th century. Since 1990 it has its own festival, the Festa da Faba.
